The Adult Community Clubhouse
Like many new owners in an adult community, you’re apprehensive about the clubhouse. You may not know what to do if / when you go there.
It’s probable that you’re moving into a community where you know either few or no people. You should go to the clubhouse. Because this is where you’ll meet people. You shouldn’t stay cooped up in your new home day after day, that’s not healthy. You see, the clubhouse is the social center of the community. Get involved, to the degree where you feel comfortable.
Activities
Most adult community clubhouses are the same, just on a different scale. What I mean is, the larger the community, the larger the clubhouse. For example, almost all have a fitness center. A community with 1,600 homes will move more treadmills in the fitness center than a community with 200 homes.
Typically, activities at an adult community clubhouse are card games, billiards, a library, a computer center and more. Trips to Atlantic City, New York or somewhere else are planned. Most have an outdoor pool, the larger and newer communities have both indoor and outdoor. Go to the clubhouse and go swimming, or shoot billiards, just get involved. Or simply, say hello to people. They’ll know if you’re new to the community because they don’t recognize you.
If there’s an activity or a hobby you enjoy and there isn’t a club for that activity, start one. For example, let’s say that you don’t want to go a week in your life without playing Parchesi, or Pinochle, or ??? Put a notice on the bulletin board stating you’re looking for people to play Parchesi. You’ll probably get a response.
The clubhouse is the social center of the community. You’re paying for it through your monthly HOA fee, so use it.

Usually, you won’t need to know the secret handshake in order to get into an Adult Community Clubhouse, but you never know….
