Adult Community Transportation Programs

Many people, at some time after they move into an adult community, reach the point where they either don’t want to drive, or can’t. Yet, they still need to shop, go to the doctor or simply, get out of the house.

Monmouth County offers a program, Special Citizen’s Area Transport (SCAT). The purpose of this program is to provide transportation for  residents of Monmouth County who are senior citizens and those who have special needs.

This is a bus service which will provide transportation from residents of adult communities and individuals to the popular shopping venues, such as Freehold Raceway Mall, Monmouth Mall, local grocery stores and shopping centers. And if you are nice to the driver, you’ll also receive a ride back home. There is a set schedule, depending upon where in Monmouth County you live. For example – on every Monday the bus may take you to the mall, Tuesday to Shop Rite, etc. I recommend a small tip for the driver.

SCAT will also take these residents to and from any medical facility on the county. Advance reservations are required for these trips, and a small fee is charged.
