Garage Renovation?
Many people think that the garage is a place to park the cars and keep them out of the weather. But I think that the people who use their garages strictly to park the cars is in the minority. I’m in a lot of homes, sometimes 50 or more per week. And, from my experience, very few have a garage that is used only for cars.
So here’s another way to renovate your home to make it nicer and more useful for you, and potentially for a new owner when you decide it’s time to sell.

Many garages turn into storage areas of tools, excess furniture, bikes, cleaning supplies and much more. Quite often, there is so much stored in the garage that there is no longer any room for a car. As for myself, my garage is full of tools, bikes, more tools and a lot more bikes. I have bikes for Bunny and myself, a daughter’s bikes and 5 different size bikes for the grandkids to use when they are here.
Some Ideas
So here’s a few ideas on how to make the garage more organized.
Get a good workbench. One that has storage underneath. Many people use the leftover cabinets from a kitchen remodel in the garage. Use the base cabinets for the workbench. Put the wall cabs in a different location and use them for storage.
Add lighting. If you are working on projects, you’ll need a lot more light than the standard light bulb on the ceiling.
Get a large enough tool box. This will help you get organized and let you find the tool you need – when you need it.
Bike racks. There are many designs available, some hang bikes from the ceiling, others on the wall, others are floor stands.
Rakes and shovels? There are wall brackets for hanging these.
Get yourself and your garage organized. And just maybe, you’ll be able to park a car in your garage.
