Purchasing Your Dream Home

Is it time to purchase your Dream Home? If you think you are ready, you’ve probably made a list, either written or in your mind, of the features your dream home must have. And I will bet that the list is extensive.

But can you actually find all of those features in a resale home? Probably not, at least if you stay within your budget.

But stop for a minute. What if you decide which features you really need, and which features you would like but don’t really need. Possibly you can add some of those features that you desire. Maybe you can finish the basement to provide that fabulous man cave, or the home gym. Instead look for the features you can’t change. For example:

Location – you can’t move the house
School system – don’t buy a home in a place where you won’t want to send your kids to school.
Think about the commute to work, is it doable?

The above items also come into play if you are buying a new construction home. And trust me- from our personal experience, you will never build a new home that has everything you want. You’ll always come up with ideas after moving in.

You also need to think about the costs. Can you qualify for the mortgage you will need to buy your dream house? Maybe you will need to put some of those features on hold, and add them as you can afford them.

So maybe you should try this. Make a list of the features you want in your dream home. Then make another list of the features you must have in your dream home. If you can find a home to buy that has all, or at least most of the features you need you are doing okay. And if there’s a possibility you can add more of those features you are doing better and you should strongly consider buying that home.

So call us. Tell us what you want and what you need. Then let us help you find it.
