Using QR Codes to Help Sell Your Home

Real estate QR Codes.

QR Codes -They’re Everywhere

Did you ever see those little squares filled with squiggly lines? They’re everywhere. In store windows and advertisements. On packaging and business cards. I’ve even seen them on t-shirts. By scanning the QR Code with your smartphone you’ll get directed to a company or a personal website. It’s the next step from putting your company logo on the shirt or jacket.

They are a type of bar coding system which is starting to pick up steam among the growing smartphone-browsing crowd.  You can download free apps for your phone or desktop that will either create or read the QR Codes.

Some people use QR Codes to direct employers to their resume or their LinkedIn profile. Or possibly your Vcard.

How does this pertain to real estate?

What we’ve had success doing is using QR Codes to help us sell homes. In addition to the standard lawn sign we put in front of people’s homes, we attach a sign with a QR Code. We’ve heard from our clients that cars drive by, the cars stop and people get out and hold their cell phone up to the sign, then get back in the car and drive away.

Here’s what they are doing. They are using a free app on their cell phones to read the QR Code. By reading the code, they get directed to a page on our web site with more detailed information than would easily fit on a sign or a print ad. The web page tells about the house. It gives a few pictures, a short description, the asking price, taxes, number of bedrooms and enough info to hopefully pique their interest. And of course it also gives contact info so that they can call to make an appointment to see the home.

This is just another tool we use to help sell your home. For further information about some of our innovative marketing techniques, give us a call.
