Weekend Backyard Projects for the DIY’er

Here’s a few ideas the average do-it-your self’er can do on a weekend to make your backyard a nicer place to live.

Who wouldn’t want a fire pit? You can do this yourself quite easily. Go to your home improvement center and get some flat pavers to make a base. tTen on top of that base used curved paver blocks to create a circle. Go about two feet high, and you have an instant fire pit.

Did you ever want a tree house when you were young? Most of us did. But sometimes it’s just not practical or possible. Well, you can get a very similar effect by building a small Playhouse and just having it mounted up on the platform three or four feet off the ground. The playhouse can be accessed via stairs or a ladder. The kids will love it.

Did you have a trampoline when you’re young? It was a lot of fun if you did. Of course they didn’t worry about little things like protection in case you fall off when I was young. You just lived with the broken bones that occurred. Well let’s try it like this. If you have an 8-foot circular trampoline, dig a hole eight foot in diameter. Then put your trampoline into the hole. That way if the kids, or are you, fall you don’t have very far to fall. You’re just fall onto the grass.

So what if you decided that you want a garden in your backyard? The problem is, you don’t have room for one. How about a vertical garden? Picture a ladder against the wall of your house. Or a tree.. Whatever. So, where the ladder rungs are put in a flower box. Use that flower box for your planting. Stack those planter boxes up as wide as high as you can fit them in.
